Evoking the rhythmic songs of West Africa, Mongolian overtone singing, and classical Carnatic music, as well as the "click and swipe culture" of our modern societies, Les Mains Libres brings together age-old cultures and a poetic take on contemporary Western life. Far from treading the beaten track, they want to bring listeners away from familiar sounds and territories, with snippets of music taken here and there, and repeated like mantras on their prepared instruments (piano, trumpet and double bass). They create musical moments like dreamscapes where the imaginations of the musicians and listeners can meet.
