Contemporary ritual for voices and Balinese gamelan

Tri Bhuwana brings together the gamelan, Bali's commonest form of orchestra comprising metallophones, xylophones, gongs and percussion, with the Musicatreize vocal ensemble, famous for the quality of its contemporary repertoire. A new work by Philippe Boivin brings these two traditions together.
Inspired by Bali's Hindu-Buddhist take on cosmology, Philippe Boivin has come up with a piece of vocal and instrumental music whose timbres, cyclical form and rhythms lead the audience into the realms of hybrid musical fantasy.
