Noma Omran vocal
Keyvan Chemirani percussions
Ancient Syria given voice by a cosmopolitan diva. Noma Omran goes back to the very origin of song, singing the first notes sung by mankind: a song from Ugarit sung in the Hurrian language. She then moves on to Syria's heritage, both secular and religious. Lastly, she gives voice to Sufi poetry: Wallâba, a 10th and 11th-century poetess; Ibn Arabi and Ibn al-Farid, 12th and 13th-century philosophers; classical Arab melodies and Aleppian mushawat.
